Frequently Asked
Questions

Ordering

How do I request a custom print quote?

Send a message through the contact page with the size, quantity, colours, deadline and any STL file or reference image links. More detail makes the quote faster and more accurate. For typical price ranges, see how much custom 3D printing costs in Australia.

Can I ask about a product before buying?

Yes. Use the contact form for product questions, colour requests, bundle questions or order support. If you are asking about an Etsy or eBay item, include the product link.

Do I need to pay before printing starts?

For custom work, Formfinity confirms the price, material and turnaround first. Payment details are handled after the quote is agreed.

Custom Prints

What can you 3D print?

Collector displays, keychains, desk pieces, gifts, replacement parts, small batches and custom models are all good fits. Very large, load-bearing or heat-exposed parts may need extra material discussion. For broken clips, knobs and brackets, see our guide to 3D printed replacement parts.

Can I send my own STL file?

Yes. Mention that you have an STL when you contact Formfinity. Include the intended size, colour and how the part will be used so print settings can be checked properly. New to this? Read our guide on preparing an STL file for printing.

Can you print in multiple colours?

Yes. Formfinity supports multi-colour printing for suitable models, including collector pieces and display items. The exact colour count depends on the model and print setup.

Printer

What printer do you use?

Most Formfinity prints are made on a Bambu Lab H2C, a high-end FDM printer suited to clean detail, repeatable parts, multi-colour printing and engineering materials when the design calls for them.

A better-calibrated printer helps with predictable surfaces, small details, colour changes and multi-part prints that need to line up properly.

Can it handle detailed pieces?

Yes. It is suited to display pieces, small features, clean visible surfaces and multi-part prints where fit matters. Very tiny details still depend on the model, layer height, nozzle size and material, so Formfinity will confirm what is realistic before printing.

Are printed parts accurate to the drawing?

Usually they are close, but FDM prints are not perfectly exact. Material, layer height, wall thickness, print orientation and cooling can all affect the final size slightly.

Holes, slots and push-fit areas often print a little tight rather than loose. If a screw, peg, bearing or another printed part needs to fit inside a hole, it is normally best to add clearance to the design instead of making it the exact same size.

As a rough guide, simple clearance fits often need about 0.2-0.5mm extra space. Bigger parts, moving parts or rougher materials may need more. If you are unsure, send the drawing or measurements and Formfinity can suggest a margin or print a small test piece first.

Materials

What materials do you use?

Most decorative pieces are printed in PLA or similar display-friendly materials. For tougher jobs, Formfinity can print engineering-grade options such as PETG, ABS, ASA, TPU and reinforced specialty filaments when the model and use case suit them. Not sure which to pick? See our PLA vs PETG guide.

Are 3D prints safe in heat?

Decorative PLA prints should be kept away from hot cars, direct heat and strong sunlight for long periods. If heat resistance matters, mention it before ordering. More in our guide on caring for display pieces.

How should I clean a print?

Use a dry or lightly damp soft cloth. Avoid soaking, harsh cleaners and high heat unless Formfinity has confirmed the material can handle it. See our full print care guide for more.

Quality

Do you use a Vision Encoder plate?

Yes. Formfinity uses a Vision Encoder calibration plate with the H2C setup. It supports more accurate motion calibration, which helps detailed parts print with cleaner alignment.

Do you check prints before sending?

Yes. Prints are checked before packing, especially visible display pieces, multi-colour parts and custom jobs.

What if a print has an issue?

If something is not right, send clear photos and the order details. Formfinity will review the issue and work out the best next step.

Shipping & Pickup

Do you ship Australia-wide?

Yes. Orders can be shipped across Australia, and orders can be shipped internationally.

Can I pick up at a local market?

Yes, when Formfinity is attending a listed market. Send a market pickup request and wait for confirmation before assuming stock is reserved.

How long will my order take?

Turnaround depends on the current print queue, model size, colour changes and finishing requirements. Quote replies will give the best estimate for the specific item.

Send the details and Formfinity will confirm what is possible.
